Australian animation is booming and after a premeire on the ABC Entertainment Youtube Channel, the indie animated series Day Job is coming back with a new OVA episode funded entirely by the creators Patreon. Who is the creator you ask? Paul Georghiou an industry animator who has worked on a number of cartoons header by Smiling Friends’ Michael Cusack. Including YOLO and Koala Man.
Georghiou has been making updates via his X account and now a full trailer, with new character design updates, fun shorts in the Day Job “universe” and this past Summer a trailer for this animated special has dropped. Check it out here:
I can say the special has a great amount of improvement from the Pilot series that debuted on ABC Entertainment. Artwise everyone looks sharper and more defined and the animation has a clear style to it that plays to the original runs strengths. I really love the acting coming from the characters, and the whitty, realistic comedy dialog still hits just as well. There’s no date so far on the OVA debut but this is definitely worth an Animation Recommendation when it finally debuts.
