We have hit 200 Episodes! How crazy it that!? It took some time trying to figure out what show to do for this bicentennial occasion but there’s nothing better than one of my all time favorites Exosquad! This show covered adult topics like the ethics of war, slavery, racism all sprinkled on top of a 90’s property to sell toys to children! Toon in now!
199. Batman vs TMNT
The latest Batman animated adventure has a few new guest stars. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles show up in Gotham to take out the Foot Clan with a little help from the Dark Knight and his sidekicks. Have a listen as AD Podcast talks about this surprisingly violent WB/Nickelodeon joint venture based on the work of James Tynion IV and Freddie Williams II. Toon in now!
198. Critical Role Kickstarter
Critical Role is an online streaming show about a bunch of nerdy Voice Actors sitting at home playing Dungeons and Dragons. It is also the online show that have the highest raised kickstarter for a TV production and 5th highest in ever at the moment. The Legend of Vox Machina is just around the corner you guys and I’m here to get you all hyped!
197. Mob Psycho 100
This week we cover another anime favorite as ANIMAY wraps up! Mob Psycho 100 is a wonderfully animated adventure from studio BONES and has a ton of heart and emotion to keep in the most cynical viewer entertained. It’s time to talk about the most powerful ESPer, Mob!
196. Kill la Kill
Kill la Kill by TRIGGER is one of my all time favorite anime. So it’s about time I get to cover it as ANIMAY month continues. A show that I find to be one of the most visually interesting and legitimately funny, heartfelt and crazy anime ever created is rife with things to talk about and we have Matt Gaither creator/director of Bagged and Bored to chat about his recent viewing of the show.
195. Cowboy Bebop
ANANIMAY continues with an anime classic in Cowboy Bebop! A real cross platform show with enough Noir and Jazz appeal to pull in a non-anime demographic even way back in the late 90’s. Back when dubs weren’t great and most anime in America was scarce and old, Cowboy Bebop showed up and changed the opinion of an entire generation on the cartoons coming across the pond from Japan.
194. Attack on Titan
It’s day one of ANIMAY! WIT Studio landed a huge deal to get this manga hit to be adapted by their studio. But they didn’t seem to take into consideration how BIG this would get. After a stumble back in 2013 the show now has great momentum and beautiful animation for each succeeding season. Steven Barnes returns to talk, Attack on Titan.
193. Animated Music Videos
From Gorillaz to Do the Evolution by Pearl Jam animation has been used in music videos for a long time and Animation Destination sits down to talk about all the ones YOU should check out. Toon in now!
192. Monkey Punch Tribute
A tragic loss in the realm of anime this week with the passing of Kazuhiko Kato, more commonly known as Monkey Punch and the creator of one of my favorite anime characters of all time, Lupin the 3rd. Please join me in this special tribute episode. Thank you.
191. Love, Death & Robots
Love Death and Robots is Tim Miller and David Fincher’s love letter to the animated special Heavy Metal. Though adult cartoons are a pretty common thing now-a-days does this type of short-form sci-fi story telling? Which episodes were a hit and which ones were duds?
190. My Hero Academia: Two Heroes
My Hero Academia: Two Heroes has finally hit home video (that’s what us old dudes used to call Blu-ray)and it’s time to talk about it here on the AD-Podcast. After a fun premiere night and the Destination comic shop in Louisville, KY John, Brandon and Mitch have a little chat about the first theatrical experience for the My Hero brand.
189. Young Justice: Outsiders Part 1
Young Justice is BACK BAYBAY! And we’re covering the DC Universe’s original season Young Justice: Outsiders Part 1! The first 13 episodes kicked off earlier this year and the rest will be out around the Summer. But for now come and listen to how much has changed, how much has stayed the same? Maybe nothing? Maybe all of it?
